Background
The goal of the Ulster County Development Corporation (UCDC) is to enhance the public-private efforts to support business growth and community revitalization in Ulster County. To meet this challenge, UCDC, Ulster County Industrial Development Agency (IDA), and the Ulster County Planning Department (UCDP) are collaborating to establish a framework that will:
- Advance new economic opportunities
- Increase living standards
- Create more individual choice and freedom
- Provide greater dignity and autonomy for workers
- Build stronger communities
- Widen citizen participation in public life
A first step in meeting these challenges involves developing a countywide vision and leadership to initiate economic development and community revitalization, and a collaborative strategic plan that guides future economic and business growth. These will be accomplished by gathering data through interviews and meetings that will provide a policy framework for economic development decisions and establish a leadership framework for the economic development community. Additionally, roles and responsibilities will be clarified and recommendations made on community outreach to support strategic implementations.
