More Money for Your Town: Understranding Ratables and PILOTs
The second Economic Development seminar that was originally planned for December 3, 2009 has been rescheduled.
The new date is TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15 at the SUNY Ulster Student Lounge from 7-9pm.
The speakers will address issues such as how PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) programs affect your town's tax base, what ratables are and how they are calculated, and how your town's ratables stack up compared to other Ulster County towns based on a report by the Balanced Growth committee of UCDC.
Presenters will be: Joe Deegan, Commercial Real Estate Broker, Deegan-Sanglyn March Gallagher, Deputy Director of Economic Development, Ulster County Lance Matteson, President, UCDC
Training credit may be available for local planning and zoning board members, dependent on acceptance from your local governing body.

Economic Development 101
October 20, 2009 - The first session of the "Economic Development" series titled "Economic Development 101" attracted more than 50 attendees. Local planning board members, developers, commerical real estate brokers and marketers all learned the basics of what Economic Development can do for a town, its tax base and its residents. Presenting the session were March Gallagher, Ulster County Deputy Director of Economic Development; Steve Finkle, City of Kingston Director of Economic and Community Development; and Lance Matteson, Ulster County Development Corporation President.
