Key Issues Discussed at Forum Hosted by UCIDA and Other Regional Business Agencies

Kingston, N.Y. More than 20 Ulster County manufacturing company CEOs and executives attended a forum addressing key issues affecting their businesses and future growth. Sponsored by the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency (UCIDA) along with the Ulster County Development Corporation (UCDC), the Council of Industry of Southeastern New York, the Mid-Hudson Small Business Development Center, the Ulster/Kingston Empire Zone, and the City of Kingston Economic Development Corporation, the forum encouraged an open, candid discussion providing County and State government officials with input they could use to formulate economic development practices and policies.

Agency Retains and Attracts More than 600 Jobs to County

February 11, 2010 - Kingston, N.Y. – Lance Matteson, President of the Ulster County Development Corporation (UCDC), today announced that the agency surpassed the 2009 goal set for the number of jobs the agency would attract or retain in the county.

For the year ending December 31, 2009, UCDC helped retain or attract 611 jobs, overwhelmingly beating its stated goal of 267 jobs. Of those positions, 128 of them were jobs at risk of being eliminated or moved out of the county. The remaining 483 jobs were new positions with firms expanding in or locating to Ulster County.

Key projects where UCDC helped companies secure tax relief, incentives or low interest financing included Amthor International (35 jobs), Precision Flow (134), Woodland Pond (47), and Elna Magnetics (39).
