Louisville, KY
May 5, 2010

Staff from TUTHILLTOWN SPIRITS, based in the Ulster County, N.Y. town of Gardiner, was on hand in Louisville Kentucky, the heart of Bourbon country, Tuesday evening when the AMERICAN DISTILLING INSTITUTE ("ADI") announced the top awards for artisan spirits from among the two hundred fifty micro distilleries across the US. Taking Silver Medals were HUDSON MANHATTAN RYE WHISKEY and HUDSON FOUR GRAIN BOURBON in their respective categories. ADI President Bill Owen announced there'd been added another category for Best Package Design; Tuthilltown’s HUDSON MANHATTAN RYE WHISKEY was awarded the Gold Medal for its distinctive apothecary bottle and overall presentation.  The best surprise saved for last when ADI named TUTHILLTOWN SPIRITS the 2009 DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR. ADI is the industry association of micro distillers in the U.S. It has grown in size from 50 to 250 members in just five years. TUTHILLTOWN SPIRITS is among the most well known and respected of this new generation of spirits producers for it's aggressive promotion of the "small spirits" industry and for their legislative efforts to improve the climate and encourage small scale agricultural distilling of high quality craft spirits.

The annual conference has been held each year in a different City. The 2011 ADI Conference location was announced today. The ADI annual conference comes to New York next year.

TUTHILLTOWN SPIRITS is the first whiskey distillery in New York since Prohibition. It's main products are the HUDSON brand of handmade whiskeys. The distillery sources most of its raw materials from local growers. Both the whiskeys entered in the competition were made with New York rye and corn from Tantillos' Farm in Gardiner. The distillery's whiskeys and vodka are served in the finest restaurants, cocktail lounges and hotels in seventeen States, seven European Union countries and Australia. The distillery is open for tours on weekends. For more about the distillery visit:www.tuthilltown.com
